sadescription The Adventure Of Monica
4mn34   b/w   sil   2009   United Kingdom
by Matthew Verdon
Two excerpts from the 1960 film "L’Avventura" by Michelangelo Antonio have been combined to show actress Monica Vitti running up and down a corridor. She is in the midst of a frantic search however the subject of her search is not shown in the present work. The two clips are alternately repeated, gradually fading with time, so the act of searching or looking is embodied for the viewer of the work who has to look harder in order to see the darkening image.

While in Paris, I shot some black and white film in Super 8. I decided to leave most of it untouched, as if it was edited in camera. It was a difficult exercise : my room was dark except for the flickering light coming from a lamp, projecting the nostalgia of passing time on the walls.

by Jonathan Franco
The figure of a man disappears and reappears in a field of abundant vegetation. This movement generates a thematic tension between landscape and portrait. Distinct levels of interpretation and contemplation are enhanced while also exploring possibilities of painting, drawing and photography within the moving images. The black and white picture was taken in the mid fifties.

sadescription dead SEEquences
4mn20   color   stéréo   2009   Italy
by Fabio Scacchioli
This is a study about the vanishing of an image."dead SEEquences" is composed of 3775 frames. Working frame by frame, we find that nothing happens inside each single image, but all pass between the frames, in the invisible gap that separe one by others. The film is here, but there isn't anything to see, the most important remain invisible and uncertain. There is no truth to discover. The truth is always elsewhere.

sadescription A peine je m’endormais
1mn44   color   stéréo   2009   France
by Isabelle Vorle
From the reflection of a gesture to the shadow of another one ? From the Lilliputian viewpoint, ordinary things are getting rougher, less pastoral ? The hard colorings of the picture, the soundtrack made of lyric singing and warped natural sounds superimposed, increase the unease.
